A month ago, I was honored to be a part of the Youth Get Fit for Business program as a business mentor. The program was a partnership event between YMCA of Central East Ontario and the Small Business Centre (Belleville, Prince Edward Country, Hastings County and Quinte west). Participants could choose a pre-selected business idea or use their own, and then proceed through a 6-step, 20 minute process that helped them develop the product or service into a marketable commodity.
After this, they pitched this product to a group of 3 judges to win prizes.
How cool is that?
I have to say, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was absolutely blown away with everyone I chatted with – it was an amazing experience, and I was honored to have been chosen as one of the 6 business mentors!
P.S. Great to hang out with other mentors: Jeremy Clark of 1PPL Fundraiser, Adam Burr of RE/MAX Quinte, Galen Nuttall of Freedom 55 Financial, and Charlene Bessin of the Small Business Centre).
Here I am, chatting about “adding value” with one of the many participants.
