Do you have a "pay as you go" option?

Yes. Pay just $19.99/month and add messaging credits as you need them. No monthy top ups. 

What is the difference between SMS and MMS?

SMS stands for “simple text service” and refers to plain text messages.

MMS stands for “multimedia messaging service” and includes a combination of image and text, as featured earlier on this page.

SMS are measured in 160 character segments, with multi-segment messages requiring 7 characters per segment for concatenation.

MMS allows for up to 1600 characters of text (although we would never suggest you send text messages that long). 

What is right for my business - SMS or MMS?

It really depends on two things…

  1. The nature of your business.
  2. The length of the messages you plan on sending.

If you're planning on sending short text messages for “informational” purposes (service outages, COVID updates, etc.), SMS is fine.

When it comes to promotional content though, MMS is the king of the castle.

Using images boosts the impact of your promotional campaigns (human beings are “visual” creatures) making them easier to scan resulting in better click throughs and a higher return on investment (ROI).

In addition, MMS includes 1600 characters which means a lot of flexibility for crafting your message.

While we can't speak for your business, almost all our clients who use our service to send promotional messages use MMS.

 

Can I send SMS from an MMS account?

Yes.

Your account can be set up as a “hybrid” account, allowing you to toggle between SMS and MMS at any time.

Can I use my business' phone number with your service?

If your business has a standard land line (not a VOIP service or cell phone) not already provisioned for SMS, then the short answer is yes.

However, we only recommend this for US businesses.

In Canada, there is no way to register a standard 10 digit long code (i.e., phone number) for mass texting, which means there's a good chance your messages will end up being blocked or filtered.

In the US standard phone numbers can be registered for mass texting campaigns, so it's perfectly acceptable to do so.

What are the extra carrier fees associated with US accounts?

If you want to use your US business' landline number for your messaging, then we will need to register it for bulk messaging.

This requires a one time fee and monthly campaign fee (the amount of which depends on your message volume and the type of messages you send. Prices start at under $2/month).

Please note that these fees are levied by our partners – they are not our fees, and we do not receive any of the funds. 

To avoid these fees, we recommend sending your messages over a special toll free number.

Does your service integrate with Shopify?

We are currently in the final stages of getting our Shopify App approved and listed in the Shopify app store.

This app will allow you to collect your customer's cell phone numbers at the checkout and add them to a list in BROADCASTsms for the bulk texting of promotional messages.

Does your service have a Zapier integration?

Yes.

BROADCASTsms can be integrated with 1,000's of different applications though Zapier. 

Do I need to install software on my computer to use BROADCASTsms?

No. BROADCASTsms is cloud-based. You can access the software with a modern browser anywhere you have a computer and internet access.

Do I need to sign a long term contract?

No. We operate on a month to month basis. You may cancel anytime.

Do you bill in US or Canadian dollars?

We can bill in either currency. We are Canadian company and all our pricing and billing is done in CAD$ by default. However, we are happy to accommodate US customers with billing in USD$.

Is BROADCASTsms secure?

Yes. The BROADCASTsms application is hosted on secure servers in SOC2 certified data centers. All critical database content is encrypted with 256-bit encrytion. We maintain PCI DSS compliance with regular security scanning.
